SAE(s)
My Supervised Agricultural Experience in Agricultural Education is rooted in my lifelong passion for the agriculture industry and my desire to help others understand it. Growing up surrounded by agriculture, I saw firsthand how important it is to educate both youth and adults about the people and practices that sustain our communities.

Through my SAE, I have been able to reach audiences in three meaningful ways: serving as the Educational Director for my family's agritourism operation, Dark Leaf Farm; leading and assisting with agricultural literacy events in my local school system; and supporting Virginia Cooperative Extension workshops and programs.

These experiences have strengthened my communication, time management, and public speaking skills while allowing me to make a meaningful impact. Since beginning my SAE, I have reached more than 2,000 people and was selected as a National Finalist in 2025.

Favorite CDE/LDE
Employment Skills holds a special place in my heart because it challenged me to grow as both a communicator and a young professional. Through this LDE, I learned how to speak confidently about my passion for agriculture and present myself in a way that reflects the leader I strive to be. I also learned how to prepare a strong résumé and cover letter, interview effectively, and develop skills that extend far beyond the blue jacket.

The skills I gained through Employment Skills have shaped the way I carry myself and strengthened my ability to serve others. Without this experience, I would not feel nearly as prepared or confident stepping into a role where representing the Commonwealth of Virginia with professionalism and purpose is essential.

Favorite FFA Memory
In October 2025, I had the opportunity to attend the National Junior Horticultural Association Convention in Baltimore, Maryland. As the only attendee from Virginia, I stepped into the experience knowing I would have to push myself to meet new people, and I'm grateful I did. Over four days, I connected with 4-H and FFA members from 11 different states, each with unique backgrounds and stories.

Attending NJHA broadened my understanding of agriculture across the country and reminded me how powerful it is when young leaders come together to learn from one another. It challenged me to be intentional, build meaningful relationships, and make the most of every moment. The connections I formed and the perspectives I gained continue to shape the way I lead and serve today.

Future Plans
After my year of service, I will attend Texas A&M University to pursue a double major in Animal Science and Agribusiness. My long-term goal is to build a career in cattle genetics and reproduction, working directly with producers to strengthen the future of their herds. I hope to work for a genetics company where I can help farmers interpret and apply Expected Progeny Differences (EPDs) to make informed, profitable breeding decisions.
