SAE(s): My SAE project is beef production. We raise Black Angus cattle from birth to about two years old, at which point they are deemed ready for processing into beef. My family has owned and operated Millbrook Farm, Inc. since 1914. Some of my daily tasks include giving them feed, cleaning water troughs, and keeping all debris off the fences. Dedication and hard work are fundamental aspects of my role, even when the work is not always enjoyable. I have dedicated many early mornings and late nights to ensure the successful operations of the farm.
Favorite CDE/LDE: My favorite CDE would be Lawn Tractor Operator at the Virginia State Fair. I love being able to do hands on work, like driving a lawnmower, within my competitions. I really put my driving skills to the test last year as I did the whole competition with a broken arm. I also enjoy putting my mechanic and farm knowledge to the test with a part identification quiz and a written exam.
Favorite FFA Memory: My favorite FFA memory would be my first time attending National Convention and 2023. I was invited only 4 days before we had to leave for Indianapolis, Indiana. Seeing the streets of Indianapolis with thousands of FFA members and being able to talk to many people from all over the United States will be something that I will never forget.
Future Plans: I have been accepted to Nashville Auto Diesel College where I will be taking their heavy equipment course. While taking this course I will learn about diesel engines, hydraulics, and welding. After graduating my goal is to work as a mechanic at Carter Cat Machinery, as well as keeping the family cattle farm operating.
