SAE(s):
I have two Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAEs). The first involves raising a flock of backyard hens and selling their eggs, which falls under the Poultry-Entrepreneurship category. The second is working as a manager at a local corn maze attraction. In this role, I monitor harvests, conduct check-ins, interact with patrons, care for animals, and ensure that all activities meet safety standards. This SAE falls under the Outdoor Recreation-Placement category, and I was honored to earn a state proficiency for this work.

Favorite CDE/LDE:
I’ve participated in several Career Development Events (CDEs), but I’m definitely more passionate about Leadership Development Events (LDEs). I love both Prepared and Extemporaneous Speaking, but my favorite event by far is Parliamentary Procedure/Conduct of Meetings. It was both my first and final contest, and it’s where I’ve made and developed many relationships, plus I'm just a sucker for rules.

Favorite FFA Memory:
One of my favorite FFA memories took place at the 2024 National Convention, where Nutrien sponsored a national competition through a mobile game called Farmers 2050. Chapters could all join a team together and work to manage their farms sustainably to earn points. My chapter, Broadway, went crazy for this game. People who rarely spoke to one another formed bonds in order to succeed in this game, we even invited people from other chapters and states to join. We were able to use something small and lighthearted to build relationships and make memories, which is what FFA is all about.

Future Plans:
I am planning to attend Virginia Tech to major in Environmental Economics and Policy, with minors in Agricultural Science and Political Science. After which, I plan to attend law school. My long-term goal is to become an Agricultural-Environmental Attorney and, eventually, serve as Virginia’s Secretary of Forestry and Agriculture.
