SAE Project(s)
My Supervised Agricultural Experience Project was based around equine management. What started out as a small project taking care of my personal horse turned into a small boarding operation where I took care of two personal horses and managed a third boarder. My daily tasks included feeding, mucking out, health checks, and riding. Additionally I showed my horse competitively and often had to learn basic veterinary procedures in order to keep the animals healthy. During my senior year I was able to complete a supplemental project. Working with a mentor at a veterinary rehabilitation facility, I learned about different aspects of long-term equine veterinary care. While interning I learned about a variety of different rehabilitative therapies such as an underwater treadmill, laser, and even carrot stretches.

Favorite CDE or LDE
Horse judging is my favorite Career Development Event as it was where I got my start in FFA. Through this event I was able to learn more about the equine industry and develop my public speaking skills as I learned to give reasons. The event made me more prepared for a career in the equine industry and a more well rounded individual.

Favorite FFA memory
My favorite FFA memory comes from one of my chapters first events back together after the COVID-19 pandemic. Our alumni chapter had assigned us to the drink table during a Farm Bureau dinner and we had the best time catching up with new and old members throughout the evening. The beginning of the dinner had started out rough for our chapter, the drink dispenser had broken and proceeded to spill all over the floor. We spent the rest of the night attempting to clean everything up and ultimately problem solving to ensure that everyone could still get a glass of lemonade. Although this initial struggle could have ruined the evening, we made the best of the situation and still laugh about it to this day.

Future Plans
After my year of state office I plan to attend Virginia Tech where I will be studying dairy science in hopes of one day attending the Virginia-Maryland Veterinary School. In the future I hope to be able to work in the equine industry as a veterinarian and make equine sports more accessible by bringing the cost of care down for owners. The agricultural industry played a large role in shaping the individual I am today and I hope to be able to bring that impact to others in the future.
