State Soils Evaluation
Apply soil science in the field by evaluating soil and
site characteristics, interpreting land-use potential,
and making informed decisions about soil management.
What Competitors Evaluate
Soil & Site Properties
Observe soil and site characteristics to evaluate
land suitability.
Land Use
Identify suitability for food and fiber production.
Erosion
Evaluate soil erosion characteristics and limitations.
Water Movement & Drainage
Rate infiltration, runoff, and natural soil
drainage class.
Team Eligibility & Scoring
Up to four individuals per team.
The three highest individual scores count toward
the team total.
The fourth team member remains eligible for individual
awards, even if their score is not included in the
team total.
