Agriscience Fair      
National FFA Agriscience Fair participants are FFA members in grades 7-12 that were selected as a winner as their state’s agriscience fair. The participants must conduct a scientific research project pertaining to the agriculture and food science industries and present their findings to a panel of judges with an interview and a report.

The Virginia FFA Agriscience Fair follows the same format as the National FFA Agriscience Fair. State winners for each Category/Division are selected through a combination of scores for the written report and in-person interview using the National FFA rubrics. Interviews are held during the Virginia FFA State Convention. Note that as of 2022, posters are no longer a component of the interview. In 2024, the schedule will be as follows:

May 27th: Applications (including written report) due by 5:00 PM. 
June 7th: Judges feedback on written report and notification of required changes to application sent to participants and advisors
June 17th: Final interview schedule released
June 21st: Final applications (including any updates to written report) due by 5:00 PM
June 24-25: In person interviews at State Convention, Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning
  
Students can compete in the national agriscience fair in one of six categories:
Animal Systems
Environmental Services/Natural Resource Systems
Food Products and Processing Systems
Plant Systems
Power, Structural and Technical Systems
Social Science

Students can compete in the national agriscience fair as an individual or with a team:
1 – Individual member in grades 7 and 8
2 – Team of two members in grades 7 and 8
3 – Individual member in grades 9 and 10
4 – Team of two members in grades 9 and 10
5 – Individual member in grades 11 and 12
6 – Team of two members in grades 11 and 12
