The Big E, the largest fair in the northeast, is home of The Big E Cream Puff and Craz-E Burger. It's a New England extravaganza with top name entertainment, The Big E Super Circus, the Avenue of States, Storrowton Village Museum, animals, competitive exhibits, rides, shopping, crafts, a daily parade and a Mardi Gras parade and foods from around the world for 17 days each September. It's the last blast of summer -- celebrate at The Big E in West Springfield, Massachusetts. |

October: National FFA Convention & Expo

Virginia FFA members travel to National FFA Convention & Expo to compete in Career and Leadership Development Events, receive American FFA Degrees, participate in National Leadership Development Workshops, take part in the National FFA Day of Service, attend general sessions, and browse the National FFA Career Show. |

November: State Soils
The Virginia 4-H and FFA Soils Judging event is an educational, competitive opportunity for members identify soil characteristics and soil properties and how they affect selected uses.

November: Virginia FFA Agricultural Leaders Conference Series
Tell your FFA story! In this three hour training, members will learn how to develop and effectively deliver a key message that promotes the agricultural industry. This is a required pre-requisite activity for Virginia FFA Day at the Capitol!

To "kick-off" the 100th year celebration, we are pleased to announce the first FFA Gameday! November 22, 2025 Virginia Tech takes on Miami in Lane Stadium on the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg. Virginia Farm Bureau is sponsoring the game. FFA members, advisors and supporters have the opportunity to purchase tickets at a heavily discounted rate. These tickets are usually $126 - but these tickets are only $55!

January: Virginia FFA Day at the Capitol
It is up to us! Share your story, advocate for agriculture, and show your support at the Virginia FFA Day at the Capitol. On January 22nd, Virginia FFA invites you to Richmond to meet with elected members of our General Assembly. This event is limited to those who participate in the Advocate for Agriculture Tour in November.

February/March: Block & Bridle Contests
Block and Bridle is a national organization founded on animal science and philanthropy. The Virginia Tech Block and Bridle club hosts events each spring to test 4-H and FFA members' knowledge on Horse Hippology, Horse Judging, Livestock Judging, and Stockman's. These competitions are held in Blacksburg on the Virginia Tech Campus. Registration and billing is handled through the Block and Bridle Club at Virginia Tech.

March: Spring Leadership Conference
Join us for the Virginia FFA STORM Conference, March 18th and 19th, 2025 at the W.E. Skelton 4-H Center in Wirtz, Virginia.

March: State Judging
State Judging is a two-day gathering of the VAAE Officer Team, Virginia FFA Governing Board and Advisory Board, and other stakeholders to plan for upcoming events, address concerns, and judge applications for a variety of award areas. The Virginia Cooperative Council’s (VCC) Virginia Institute on Cooperative Education is a conference for high school students to gain hands-on experience learning about Virginia Co-op's and their way of doing business.

March: State Skill-a-Thon
Date: March 26th, 2025
Location: Rockingham County Fairgrounds
Entries due March 17th.
Skillathon encourages members to develop a more complete knowledge of livestock and related subjects. This contest provides an educational program for all project members, including those who may not own a project animal, and provides a way to develop self-confidence.

April: State Cattleworking
The youth cattle working contest develops youth skills in animal management and handling. Working as a team, youth efficiently process three stocker calves utilizing Beef Quality Assurance guidelines. Regional competitions are held in the spring throughout the state; the top teams from each region then compete at the State Youth Cattle Working Contest during the Virginia Beef Expo and held in conjunction with the Junior Beef Roundup.

Leadership Camp is a great opportunity for FFA members across the state to come together for a week of leadership and service together. Graves Mountain Lodge is a wonderful spot in the Shenandoah Valley to experience the great outdoors.
