SAE(s): During my time in FFA, I had multiple Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAE) projects. My most recent and personal favorite was serving as a teacher's assistant for several agricultural classes. My responsibilities included creating, printing, and grading safety tests, tutoring students, assisting in the shop, and taking on various tasks of an agriculture teacher and FFA advisor. This experience greatly deepened my understanding of the agriculture education system.
Favorite CDE/LDE: My favorite Career Development Event (CDE) is Agricultural Mechanics, which I had the opportunity to compete in twice at state convention. I enjoyed this event because it aligned closely with the topics I loved learning about in shop classes and introduced me to aspects of agriculture that I was curious about. My favorite part of the competition was having the opportunity to demonstrate my welding skills, performing various types of welds.
Favorite FFA Memory: My favorite FFA memory was attending the VICE (Virginia Institute of Cooperative Education) conference at Graves Mountain Lodge. It allowed me to continue building my existing relationships, and pushed me out of my comfort zone by trying new things, meeting new people, and establishing lifelong memories. Learning to work as a team to run a business, even if my team was jokingly considered the “Walmart” of the group.
Future Plans: After serving the Virginia FFA Association, I plan to attend NASCAR Technical Institute for a nine-month welding program. Afterward, I hope to either join a NASCAR team as a chassis welder or pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering at Tennessee Tech. Ultimately, I aim to become a welding engineer for a heavy machinery company like CAT or John Deere.
