National Officer Candidate

Each year, Virginia FFA may nominate one candidate to pursue National FFA Office. The Virginia selection process is designed to identify and prepare a candidate who is ready to represent Virginia FFA through the National FFA officer selection process.

Before You Apply

Pursuing National FFA Office is a significant commitment that requires preparation, reflection, and support. Candidates are encouraged to carefully review the National Officer Candidate Handbook and discuss the opportunity with their family and chapter advisor before beginning Virginia's nomination process.

Make the Decision

National officer candidacy requires significant time, preparation, and self-reflection. Take time to understand the expectations of the experience and include your family and support system in the decision.

American FFA Degree

Candidates must hold or be receiving the American FFA Degree to pursue national office. If you have not yet completed your degree, work with your chapter advisor to complete the application. The cover page is due by State Judging.

Virginia's Selection Process

Submit Your Intent to Run

Complete Virginia FFA's National Officer Candidate application by May 15, 2026 at 11:59 PM. Your application will be shared with the supervisor of the Virginia FFA National Officer Nominating Committee and reviewed as part of the selection process. You will receive a copy of your application following submission.

Prepare for Selection

Review the National Officer Candidate Handbook and available study materials. Virginia's process is designed to parallel the National FFA officer selection process, although some rounds may be modified or excluded.

Participate in the Interview Process

Virginia's selection process will take place on May 27, 2026 at Etgen Hall, across from Alphin-Stuart at Virginia Tech. Candidates should plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early. Additional interview details will be provided prior to the selection date.

Virginia Selects Its Candidate

Candidates will participate in a one-day selection process with a five-member nominating committee. Following the process, Virginia FFA will select the individual who will represent the association as Virginia's National Officer Candidate.
